Jeld-Wen Window Installation: The Davie Owner’s Guide

We install Jeld-Wen windows in Davie regularly, and a straightforward replacement of one standard-size Jeld-Wen window typically runs $450 to $950 installed, depending on series, size, and whether the frame needs repair. Most single-window swaps are completed in one visit, and we stock common Jeld-Wen hardware on the truck. The way most homeowners find us: a window that won’t lock, glass that fogs between the panes, or a frame that swelled so badly in a Davie summer that the sash won’t close. TruePane Windows & Doors is an independent installer, not affiliated with Jeld-Wen, but we work with their product lines every week and know their quirks.

Dale Kessler grew up off Orange Drive near the old Davie Arena, and he has watched how Jeld-Wen frames behave after ten or fifteen Florida wet seasons. That local experience shapes how we install them here: with drainage details and flashing methods suited to South Florida humidity, not a generic playbook from up north.

Which Jeld-Wen Models This Applies To

The Jeld-Wen lineup spans a wide range, and the installation details shift based on which series you have. In Davie homes we most often work on the Siteline and Siteline EX wood and clad-wood windows, the Vinyl 2500 and 3500 series, the Builder and Premium vinyl lines, and the Jeld-Wen W-2500 and W-4500 impact-rated units that show up on newer Broward County construction. Each series has its own frame depth, nailing flange profile, and jamb thickness, and parts are not freely interchangeable across series.

To identify what you have, look at the corner of the sash or the spacer bar between the glass panes. Jeld-Wen etches a manufacturing code and series identifier there. If the label is gone, measure the visible glass width and height to the nearest sixteenth of an inch, and note whether the frame is wood, vinyl, or aluminum-clad. That gets us most of the way to the right replacement in one phone call. For Jeld-Wen specifically, OEM hardware and balances are usually worth the extra cost over generic aftermarket parts because the lock geometry and sash weight ratings are tuned to the series. We carry both, and we will show you the price difference on paper before we order anything.

Signs Your Jeld-Wen Window Installation Is Failing

  • Sash won’t stay up or won’t lock. The block-and-tackle balances or spiral balances inside the jamb wear out, especially in humid climates where the nylon components absorb moisture and lose tension. The lock misalignment usually follows the balance failure.
  • Condensation or fog between the glass panes. The insulated glass unit seal has failed. In Davie’s humidity, a failed seal shows up fast. The glass unit itself needs replacement; the frame is often still good.
  • Water stains on the interior drywall below the window. This points to flashing or sill pan failure, not the window itself. A proper Davie install includes a sloped sill pan and back-rodded sealant joints, and we see skipped sill pans often on tract-built homes.
  • Frame swelling or sticking in summer. Wood and wood-clad Jeld-Wen frames absorb moisture during the wet season and bind against the sash. This is partly a maintenance issue and partly an installation issue if the exterior sealant was not done right the first time.
  • Drafts around the perimeter in winter. Even mild Davie winters reveal poor shimming or missing insulation around the frame. We air-seal the rough opening with low-expansion foam and backer rod on every install, which also cuts down the summer air-conditioning loss.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed Jeld-Wen window replacement in Davie most commonly lands between $450 and $950 per window for typical sizes up to about 36 by 60 inches. Larger units, impact-rated glass, or second-story access push toward $1,200 and up. The frame material, glass package, and whether we are replacing the entire window or just the sash and balances account for most of the spread.

Every quote includes the window or parts, labor, disposal of the old unit, flashing and sealant, interior trim touch-up where needed, and a written line-item breakdown before we start. There are no surprise change orders. The work is covered by the Done Right Promise, and we register both manufacturer warranty layers in writing before the truck leaves your driveway. That is the Keystone Standard, and it applies to every Jeld-Wen install we do in Davie.

Job Scope Typical Davie Installed Price
Single standard Jeld-Wen vinyl window, full replacement $450 - $750
Single Jeld-Wen wood or clad-wood window $600 - $950
Impact-rated Jeld-Wen unit (per window) $800 - $1,400
Sash balance and lock repair only $180 - $320
Insulated glass unit replacement (fogged seal) $220 - $400

DIY or Call Us?

There are a few things you can safely check before calling. Confirm the window is actually Jeld-Wen by reading the etching in the corner of the glass. Check whether the problem is the glass, the lock, the balance, or the frame, since that determines whether you are looking at a repair or a full replacement. What you should not do is try to remove a window sash with a failing balance, and you should never attempt to replace an impact-rated window yourself. An impact unit that is not set, shimmed, and sealed correctly will fail when a storm hits, and the liability from a bad install can void your wind-mitigation credits and your insurance position.

What goes wrong in DIY window replacement, in our experience across Davie, is water management. The window itself is rarely the hard part. Flashing the opening so water drains down and out, not into the wall cavity, takes practice and the right materials. If the pane is not true, the job is not done, and the same principle applies to the flashing. Call (863) 208-5172 for a free estimate, and we will come measure.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★

"Quote was the price, which after three other bids that grew legs was worth something. Double-hungs went in clean, they hauled the old ones, and the registration paperwork for the warranty came in the mail like they said."

DDorothy K.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★

"Had fog between the panes in four windows. They explained the seals had failed and argon was long gone, replaced the glass units instead of selling me whole windows. Honest outfit."
